1957 Standard Pennant. Affectionately known as ‘The Flying Penant’.
This 1957 Standard Pennant was converted to race specifications in 2013 in order to compete in the coveted St Mary’s Trophy at the Goodwood Revival Meeting. The car competed successfully there achieving a 13th overall position in what was a spectacular bumper to bumper race at the 2014 St Marys Trophy. The car also competed in the HRDC Historic Saloon car series winning many class wins.
Powered by a very breathed on 1190cc Triumph engine delivering about 90bhp, the car runs Triumph GT6 front disc brakes which are this cars secret weapon giving it the ability to brake later than its competitors and gain places in corners.Sporting original and hard to find Triumph LeManns style wheels, the car is professionally caged and nicely detailed. The car has been in storage for a few years and will require some recommissioning before being unleashed on track again. The Flying Pennant is supplied with a number of near impossible to find spares to keep her in battle to include a number of replacement body panels and a spare engine.
This is a unique racing car, perhaps the only one of its kind and is eligible for entry again at the Coveted St Mary’s Trophy race at the prestigious Goodwood Revival meeting. A fantastic opportunity to tick a major notch off ones bucket list! Many cars that are infinitely more expensive than this have been turned away from Goodwood so a steal at just £27995.00!
